$2 million order for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) production line

BTU International, Inc. (Nasdaq NM: BTUI), the leading supplier of advanced thermal processing equipment for advanced materials processing, semiconductor packaging, and surface mount assembly, today announced the receipt of an order, valued at approximately $2 million, for an integrated manufacturing line for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) manufacturing. The order is from one of the largest European-based, global leaders in fuel cell technology.

This order for a turnkey production line for manufacturing solid oxide fuel cells features multiple Convection Heat Treat drying systems and BTU's unique Elevator Hearth System for high temperature sintering. The order also includes multiple screen-printing systems, a laser marking and bar code reading system as well as the automated handling equipment to fully automate the process.

The precise temperature control and purity of the processing environment within BTU's thermal processing systems work to increase the throughput and yield of the critical ceramic materials, enabling the production of high-quality, long-life, cost-effective fuel cells.

"This is a very significant order," said Mark R. Rosenzweig, president and CEO of BTU International. "We believe this is the first fully integrated production line for solid oxide fuel cells to be built anywhere in the world, and the selection of BTU by this major customer is recognition of our technological leadership and project management expertise within the fuel cell industry. We are very pleased to be selected to build this turn key production line, and will continue focusing our Advanced Materials organization on being the premier supplier of integrated manufacturing solutions for the fuel cell industry, specifically the solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) segment."
