Nippon Sanso expands hydrogen supply operation

Nippon Sanso is to undertake an expansion project for its hydrogen supply activities for fuel cell vehicles (FCVs). 

It is currently involved in 7 hydrogen filling stations in Japan. It targets a sales turnover of yen 5 bn by 2010. 

The Ministry of Trade and Industry (METI) believes that the number of FCVs in Japan will rise from the present 50 to 50,000 in 2010, 5 M in 2020 and 15 M in 2030. 

In line with this the number if hydrogen filling stations is expected to rise to 500 in 2010, 3500 in 2020 and 8500 in 2030.
