The University of South Florida's Clean Energy Research
Center received a $2.5-million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.
The grant will fund continued research into the development of hydrogen
as a usable fuel.
The center is exploring ways to produce hydrogen inexpensively, how
to store it safely and methods of converting it into energy.
The President's Hydrogen Fuel Initiative plans to make the cost of hydrogen
competitive with that of gasoline by 2010.
